Getting to Heidelberg

Heidelberg can be easily reached from Frankfurt International Airport (FRA) in less than one hour by shuttle buses or train connection. The diagram at the right illustrates the relative locations of airports near Heidelberg and Mannheim.

From European airports of departure you also can reach Heidelberg via budget airlines through Frankfurt Hahn Airport (HHN) (about 150 km away) and Airport Karlsruhe/Baden-Baden (FKB) (about 90 km away). From both airports you have a bus shuttle service to/from Heidelberg.

For participants attending the ICSB2011 before the COMBINE meeting, Heidelberg is easily reached from the town of Mannheim by local trains in 15-20 min.

Passport and VISA

Please check your passport and visa requirements in due time before your departure. If you require an official invitation letter for your visa, please act as follows:

1. Register yourself online
2. Process the payment of your participant fee
3. Send an email to Kornelia Gorisch giving the postal address you want the invitation letter to be sent to. We kindly recommend you to contact us early in advance, as the conveyance of your letter may take some time.

Accommodations

Attendees are responsible for arranging their own accommodations. We urge you to make your hotel bookings as soon as possible. Heidelberg is a major tourist attraction in Germany and September is high tourist season for Heidelberg. Hotels fill early.

Please make your bookings directly with the corresponding hotel, giving them the group code 'COMBINE' as reference. This might not be possible via online booking, so please contact the corresponding hotels directly.

We have reserved a limited number of rooms at the nearby Parkhotel Atlantic. The hotel is just 300 m from the meeting venue. These rooms are available on a first come, first served basis. Costs are approximately 80€ per room and night, depending on the room size. Wireless internet access in the rooms is available free of charge.

Reserved rooms are also available at:

• Hotel Villa Marstall, an elegant and romantic hotel directly at the river in Old Heidelberg and located approximately 3 km from the conference venue. Free internet access (LAN cable) is available in the rooms and breakfast included (129-165€ per room and night). This option expired August 5th, 2011.
• Hotel Perkeo, directly located in the Old town and close to Villa Marstall. WLAN is offered in the rooms (Charge: 5€ / 24 h). Costs are 92€ (weekdays) / 130€ (weekend) per room and night. This option expired July 28th, 2011.
• the budget hotel hotelo Heidelberg (49€ per room and night, excluding breakfast), located approximately 6 km from the conference venue. Free internet access (LAN cable) is available in the rooms.

There are no pre-reserved rooms, but you also could try your luck at the Arthotel Heidelberg.
